About the Founder

I’m Kayla, founder of Shadowfern Editions.

I started Shadowfern to collaborate with authors and artists I genuinely admire, and to create special edition books that do justice to the stories they’ve built.

For me, it’s not just about creating a beautiful object. It’s about translating a story into something tangible. Something that feels cohesive from the cover through to the final page.

Every edition is built with that in mind.

We specialise in fantasy special editions across all subgenres, including fantasy romance, dark fantasy, and character-driven stories.

Each release is developed in collaboration with the author and a team of artists, with a strong focus on:

Limited Edition Book Model (How Preorders Work)

All Shadowfern Editions releases are produced as limited edition hardcovers through a preorder model.

Preorders are typically open for around four weeks. This allows us to produce based on demand, reducing overproduction while maintaining exclusivity.

Once preorders close, the edition moves into production and is shipped worldwide.

Occasionally, a small number of extra copies may become available, but they are never guaranteed.
